Our 7th-grade English Language Arts course combines standards and projects to give students a deep grasp of language, literature, and writing. They participate in hands-on activities to enhance critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration while honing reading, writing, and communication skills. Projects involve original written works paired with multimedia presentations.
Semester 1
Choose ONE book per unit (used copies are fine).
UNIT 1: Schooled by Gordon Korman OR Home, and Other Big, Fat Lies by Jill Wolfson
UNIT 2: Nabukko by K.R. Gadeken OR Dry by Neal Shusterman & Jarrod Shusterman
Preferred writing and note-taking implements (paper, pencils, pens)
Creative project materials as needed
Digital accounts to various services as needed, such as NoRedInk (to be discussed during class)
Semester 2
Choose ONE book per unit (used copies are fine).
UNIT 3: The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien OR The Girl and the Ghost by Hanna Alkaf
UNIT 4: The student will choose an appropriate book for the last unit.
