History, Grade 8

Courses Overview

This 8th-grade history course explores U.S. history from the founding of the Republic through the late 19th century. Aligned with California state standards, students examine the development of America’s democratic institutions—rooted in Judeo-Christian heritage and English parliamentary traditions—with a particular focus on the shaping of the Constitution.

Students trace the evolution of American politics, society, culture, and economy, analyzing how these factors contributed to significant regional differences. The course highlights key challenges faced by the new nation, especially the causes, course, and consequences of the Civil War. Project-based learning engages students in critical thinking, collaboration, and reflection, providing a dynamic and meaningful learning experience.
