What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?
I considered studying to become a teacher in college, but ultimately chose to study modern languages instead. However, I would often organize study sessions and groups for various classes and became a French and Spanish tutor in my last year, which caused me to explore more tutoring options after college. I enjoy helping people find the root of misunderstanding and correcting it and believe that often, students just need concepts and problems to be explained in a little different way in order to master a skill, something that is more easily achieved in a small group setting than in a classroom.
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?
I enjoy spending time outside, playing board games, working on small crafts, and watching TV shows.
What was your favorite subject in school and why?
I didn’t have a favorite subject in school, but my favorite classes were often the ones that encouraged a variety of perspectives and ideas with no set right answer. Fine art, English, and social science classes were all structured as discussions that included a great deal of learning, but also creativity in thinking and expressing ideas.
