What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?

I was inspired to become a teacher because I had such great experience growing up in Ohio farmland and learning the natural beauty of the land, the creatures, and people coupled with simple values: be happy, healthy, and productive. In my high school years, I struggled with those values because I did not have a future goal I was working towards. I did work hard to be a great student but I was uninspired with the prospect of staying in my hometown. Fortunately, I had the pleasure of taking an advanced science class where I learned the intersection between physics, biology, ecology, and how anything can be examined and understood at the micro and macro level. I am so thankful to that teacher for sharing her gifts of curiosity, observation, inference, and analysis. It is my goal to share those gifts so that you may look at the surrounding world around you and appreciate its’ personal, natural and scientific value.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?

My hobbies and interests outside of the classroom include gardening, kitten rescuing, exercising, and playing games of skill and chance. Since moving back to my hometown, I have had the pleasure of reconnecting with my extended family, working with my uncle on his physical therapy goals, and learning everything I can about homeownership, so I am ready when I become a homeowner. I also really enjoy visiting new churches around the area and meeting new people.

What was your favorite subject in school and why?

My favorite subject in school was advanced biology. That is the science class I mentioned earlier because it taught me how to appreciate an organisms form and function in the scope of an ecosystem.

Anything else we should know about you?

I really work hard to talk and listen with all people. If we should meet, I hope we can have great conversation. When I can’t chit-chat, I am mission focused on our learning goals and the formation of your learning.
