What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?

Aloha mai kakou and hope this message finds you well. My work in the twilight of my career is inspired by a simple Hawai’ian phrase “E hele me ka pu’olo” which translated means “Make every person, place, or condition better than you left it always.” My humble endeavor is to continue to improve education globally and to provide high quality education for all children.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?

My journey in life has blessed me with the opportunity to compete in over 15 World Championships including completing the Ironman World Triathlon Championships in Kona.

What was your favorite subject in school and why?

My favorite subject in school came much later in High School and was studies of World History. It is fascinating to examine the notion that history repeats itself which can provide powerful insights and guidance into our lives.
