What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?
Teaching was always my plan, and I eventually followed in my dad’s footsteps. He started as a teacher before becoming an administrator. Like him, some of my most cherished memories come from teaching, but life opened the door to new opportunities.
As an administrator, the most rewarding aspects of my role are fostering meaningful connections with our team and partners, collaborating with educators and administrators, and contributing to the growth and impact of Branches Learning.
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?
Nothing is better than gathering with family and friends. Luckily for me, gatherings are routine. My husband and I have lived in three states, so these visits often involve travel. When our four sons were younger, we explored much of the U.S.; we now look forward to traveling abroad.
What was your favorite subject in school and why?
It varied and was often influenced by who the teacher was. Good teachers can make students enjoy almost anything. I liked hands-on activities and interactive learning—science experiments, creative writing projects, and anything that encouraged exploration and critical thinking.
Anything else we should know about you?
I once thought my career path would be a straight line, but it took its own course. Teaching in public, private, and homeschooling settings has taught me a lot, ultimately leading me to Branches Learning, a truly wonderful place to be.
