What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?
Teaching has always been a part of life for me. Many of the successful and influential adults from my childhood have been teachers. I was the eldest of my siblings, oldest of all the children on my block and the first born of all my cousins so by birthright, I have been inspired to be an example as an educator to children around me.
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?
I am the mother of three birth children, two adopted daughters, one foster daughter and one grandson so far. Needless to say we keep very busy. We enjoy any activity where there is water involved like a snow trip, beach, lake or river. We visit different amusement parks monthly and belong to amusement park groups were it allows us to travel, dress in themes and meet other families with similar interests. We also like discovering historical sites in different parts of the world.
What was your favorite subject in school and why?
To be honest, I was a bit of a “geek” in school. I enjoyed most subjects because I like learning what’s new and challenging. My favorite subjects in grade school were volleyball, cooking and mathematics. In college, I leaned towards volleyball and history. As a teacher, I enjoy teaching sports, math, art and history.
