Adjustments Due to Weather and Fire Conditions

We hope this message finds you safe and well. Due to the serious weather and fire conditions in LA County, some of our teachers, students, and families are experiencing evacuations or are under the possibility of evacuations.

As a result, there may be course cancellations or substitute instructors for some classes over the next few days. We understand if your student is unable to attend class during this challenging time. Please know that we will provide recorded videos for any non-canceled classes your student missed to ensure continuity in learning.

For tutoring students, families will be notified via email or text if a tutor needs to cancel. If your student cannot attend a session, please cancel if possible.

We understand the challenges posed by these severe conditions, and sessions missed due to these circumstances can be rescheduled, provided the tutor can accommodate.

The safety and well-being of our community are our top priorities. If you have any concerns or need additional support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Stay safe, and thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?

I have always loved working with kids. I was working as a Special Ed Aide and the teacher I worked with encouraged me to get my teaching credential, because I worked so well with all of the students. So I did and I have loved teaching ever since! I love watching the light bulb go off when students understand the lesson being taught and they suddenly “get it!” That is why I teach. I want to see that light bulb go off in every one of my students!

I enjoy teaching Language Arts to elementary students, because we get to read such fun stories and do some great activities and projects to go along with the story. I really like teaching young children good writing skills, so they can carry them on with them in their future studies and hopefully they will become really good writers.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?

Things I do to do outside of the classroom are: spend time with my son; go to the beach; and take pictures. I love taking pictures of anything or anyone, or at events! I am the “photographer” at any event or gathering I attend. People will ask me to take pictures and share them with them, because I take really good pictures!

What was your favorite subject in school and why?

My favorite subject in school varied. In lower elementary it was math. In upper elementary, it was history. In high school and college, it was writing.

Anything else we should know about you?

My favorite color is yellow!
