What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?
Being a teacher wasn’t exactly on my radar when I started working in special education seven years ago, but the children changed my trajectory. I love building connections with my students and watching their growth over the school year. The thing I enjoy most about teaching my classes are the relationships I form with the kids and all of the things they teach me throughout the year!
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?
Outside of the classroom, I love to spend time with my husband, daughter, and our two cats. I love to explore nature, go to different parks and trails, and explore the wonders of the Midwest since moving out here three years ago. Being an introvert means that my ultimate interest and hobby though, is to be at home with my loved ones doing a quiet activity, binge watching a TV series, or watching a movie 🙂
What was your favorite subject in school and why?
I had two favorite subjects in school, English Language Arts and History. ELA was one of my favorites since I enjoyed the reading, writing, and learning about the spelling and grammar rules. History was also my favorite subject because it has always been interesting to learn about the origins of places, people, and the truth about historic events that have shaped our past and present.
Anything else we should know about you?
I pride myself in meeting children where they’re at and strive to leave a lasting, positive impact on them!
