What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?
I became a teacher to help other students who were like me when I was in school. I struggled with math and had to work hard to understand it. It gave me the desire to be a teacher so I could help those students who didn’t understand it as easily as others. What I enjoy most about teaching math is that I find it exciting. I enjoy seeing the students gain success at understanding and doing the math problems. Seeing it click for the first time and really understanding it make what I do worth it.
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?
I enjoy hiking and other outside activities with my family when I’m not working. I also like to read and play games. My new favorite hobby is playing games with my kindergartener.
What was your favorite subject in school and why?
My favorite subject in school for the fun was band. I play percussion and have always really enjoyed it. It was a close tie with math because math was something I had to work at but once I understood it it was very rewarding. It pushed me to be better and work hard.
Anything else we should know about you?
I really enjoy my family, teaching, and the outdoors. I am happy to get back into teaching again and make a difference.
