What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?

My inspiration to become a teacher comes from a deep passion for sharing knowledge and fostering a love for learning in students. What I enjoy most about teaching is witnessing the moment when students’ minds open up to something new. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see them become inspired to delve deeply into a subject and find ways to apply it to their own lives. Knowing that I am a part of their educational journey and that I may have sparked a lifelong pursuit of learning is what makes teaching truly rewarding for me.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?

Outside of the classroom, I have a variety of hobbies and interests that keep me active and inspired. I enjoy exercise and training my dogs, which helps me stay fit and connected with my pets. Traveling with my kids is a passion of mine, as it allows us to explore new places and cultures together. I love cooking and experimenting with new recipes, as well as taking nature walks to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. Reading is another favorite pastime, as it continually fuels my curiosity and love for learning.

What was your favorite subject in school and why?

My favorite subject in school was music/choir. I loved it because it allowed me to express my creativity in a unique and meaningful way. Through music, I could explore different emotions, collaborate with others, and develop a sense of discipline and dedication. It taught me the importance of creativity in learning and inspired me to incorporate creative approaches in my teaching methods.

Anything else we should know about you?

As a dedicated educator with over a decade of experience, I bring a rich background in teacher education and psychology to my role as a tutor. I have homeschooled my own children and instructed community groups, developing a deep understanding of individualized learning. Additionally, I substitute teach in public schools, which has provided me with diverse teaching experiences and the ability to adapt to various educational needs.

My expertise lies in special education, particularly in supporting neurodiverse individuals. I am passionate about creating inclusive and effective learning strategies that cater to each student’s unique needs. Beyond academics, I run a homeschool social group for teens, fostering a supportive community where students can grow socially and emotionally.

I believe that the learning process is a two-way street, and I gain as much from my students as they do from me. My goal is to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and instill a love for learning in each student I work with.
