Samantha Murphy

What inspired you to become a teacher, and what do you enjoy most about teaching your subject?

I’ve always loved helping others understand new concepts, and I discovered early on that teaching combines my passion for learning with my desire to make a difference. What I enjoy most about teaching my subject is watching students go from feeling unsure to saying, “Oh, I get it now!”—that moment when everything clicks. Especially in math and science, I love showing students that these subjects aren’t just about formulas.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the classroom?

Outside of teaching, I enjoy staying active and spending time outdoors. I’m currently training for a marathon, so running and fitness have become a big part of my routine. And when I’m not working or running, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring new places with my son.

What was your favorite subject in school and why?

My favorite subject in school was definitely math. I’ve always enjoyed problem-solving, and math just seemed to click for me.

Anything else we should know about you?

In my free time, I love watching TV and movies. It’s a great way for me to relax and enjoy a good story after a busy day.
