Adjustments Due to Weather and Fire Conditions

We hope this message finds you safe and well. Due to the serious weather and fire conditions in LA County, some of our teachers, students, and families are experiencing evacuations or are under the possibility of evacuations.

As a result, there may be course cancellations or substitute instructors for some classes over the next few days. We understand if your student is unable to attend class during this challenging time. Please know that we will provide recorded videos for any non-canceled classes your student missed to ensure continuity in learning.

For tutoring students, families will be notified via email or text if a tutor needs to cancel. If your student cannot attend a session, please cancel if possible.

We understand the challenges posed by these severe conditions, and sessions missed due to these circumstances can be rescheduled, provided the tutor can accommodate.

The safety and well-being of our community are our top priorities. If you have any concerns or need additional support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Stay safe, and thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

Courses Overview

Journalism provides high school students with a real-life learning opportunity where they sharpen their writing abilities in an engaging and meaningful manner. Our Correspondents delve into different types of writing, including investigative reporting, reviews, informative essays, narratives, interviews, and creative pieces. While fulfilling specific writing requirements, students can select topics of interest. Articles go through three phases of editing: self, peer, and professional. Reporters are responsible for meeting work deadlines.

At the end of the semester, submissions are compiled to create an impressive student publication with articles, columns, artwork, and additional pieces reporters choose to add. The publishing experience gives students a reason to write and motivates them to produce their best work!
