English Language Arts 12 consists of four units and a final project. Students analyze and discuss a variety of classical, contemporary, and informational literature from the Anglo-Saxon Period to the Modern Age. Students implement the writing process (brainstorming, drafting, revising, conferencing, and creating a final product) as they craft argumentative, analytical, informative, and narrative essays.
Opportunities for group interactions, peer collaboration, and independent study are integrated throughout the course.
Families should note that specific literature may contain sensitive material, necessitating review and discussion with an adult. While a suggested A-G grade-level reading list is available, students are encouraged to supplement these options with thematically relevant alternatives that meet course requirements.
Includes NoRedInk materials fee.
*Materials may be purchased privately or with educational funds.
*Novels can be checked out from the library or purchased.
Language Arts Note: Once classes begin, Branches Learning will provide students access to NoRedInk, an online tool that targets specific language arts skills. This program is part of the course curriculum.
