“Story of the World” – Unveiling Ancient Civilizations, Grades 1-2

Courses Overview

Young students will embark on a journey to explore ancient civilizations as they listen to stories in Susan Wise Bauer’s popular series, “The Story of the World.” This book will ignite students’ imaginations and present history in a fun and exciting way. Hands-on learning activities include map skills, painting/coloring, sketching, and creating simple models.

Things to Know:

  • “Story of the World” is a well-loved history series written in a story format.
  • Students may be encouraged to color corresponding historical pages as the teacher reads. This technique often improves listening skills.
  • Students engage in class activities. Some students can work independently, and others may need assistance from a family member.
  • This history elective is rich in content but does not follow state standards.
