“Story of the World,” Unveiling Ancient Civilizations, Grades 3-4

Courses Overview

Students will embark on a journey to explore ancient civilizations as they listen to stories in Susan Wise Bauer’s popular series, “The Story of the World.” The first book, “Ancient Times,” will ignite students’ imaginations and present history in a fun and exciting way. Hands-on learning activities include map skills, painting/coloring, and creating simple models. In addition, they’ll have the chance to unleash their creativity by crafting their own unique projects.

Things to Know:

  • “Story of the World” is a well-loved history series written in a story format.
  • Students may be encouraged to complete simple, class-appropriate activities (coloring, drawing, etc.) as the teacher reads. This technique often improves listening skills.
  • This history elective is rich in content, but it does not follow state standards.
