Story of the World, Grades 3-5

Courses Overview

Students will embark on a journey to explore the history and culture of the Middle Ages as they listen to stories in Susan Wise Bauerโ€™s popular series, โ€œThe Story of the World.โ€ The second book, โ€œThe Middle Ages,โ€ will ignite studentsโ€™ imaginations and present history in a fun and exciting way. Hands-on learning activities include map skills, painting/coloring, skits, and creating simple models. In addition, theyโ€™ll have the chance to unleash their creativity by crafting their unique projects.

Things to Know

  • โ€œStory of the Worldโ€ is a well-loved history series written in a story format.
  • As the teacher reads, students may be encouraged to complete simple, class-appropriate activities (coloring, drawing, etc.). This technique often improves listening skills.
  • This history elective is rich in content, but it does not follow state standards.
