Courses Overview

This standards-based fifth-grade math class increases each student’s math fluency. In addition to traditional paper and pencil exercises, students dive into practical learning experiences.

In this course, students will:

Increase their understanding of percentages, measurement, graphing, and algebraic thinking.
Apply all four operations to fractions, mixed numbers, and whole numbers.
Expand their geometry foundation by calculating area, perimeter, and volume of 2D and 3D shapes.

Student Placement at Branches Learning

At Branches Learning, our goal is to meet each student where they are and help them grow from there. To assist us in doing this, we consider teacher recommendations and, when helpful, use brief online placement tests in Math and Language Arts. This process helps us thoughtfully group students within each grade level. Placement tests will be released on or before July 21 to students who did not attend Math or Language Arts with us during the 2024-2025 school year.

We keep placement testing low-stress and focused on supporting your child. When used, these tools help us:
